55 Gallon Drum Transformed Into A Cooktop Wood Stove
YouTube is chalk full of such great tutorials and information, it's a great place for people to come together to share all the wonderful things that they make or think. Here we have a 55 gallon drum transformed into a cooktop wood stove. I love when people turn otherwise garbage items into useful items that can be enjoyed for years to come. When we think of all the stuff that ends up at the landfill, it's quite depressing. We're especially bad in first world countries, because so many items are disposable and replaceable. Back in the day it was important to make the best use of each and every item we owned. You wouldn't just throw away that sweater with the small hole in it, no. You would bring it to your mom or grandma, and they would sew it back up for you, and then you would keep it for many more years. This goes the same for socks, underwear, pants... you name it.
The clothes we buy, as well as many of the items we buy, are exceptionally low quality. Think of all the stuff that ends up at the dollar store and how easily they break or become worn. It's great as far as buying things for a super low price, but the problem is that these items just end up piling up at landfills. Then you just end up buying the same type of item 5 times in one year instead of just investing the money into a higher quality item that will last many years.
Now this 55 gallon drum isn't exactly one of those low quality items that one would figuratively buy at a cheap convenience store, but it is an item that once it's lived its life in whatever industrial environment it was destined for, becomes redundant. Now I don't know about you but I can't really think of many ways to reuse a 55 gallon drum like this one. But luckily there are people more creative than me who have come up with a brilliant concept that will reduce waste and breathe new life into an otherwise junk item. This 55 gallon drum transformed into a cooktop stove is such a great idea, and you can see how it works by watching the video on the YouTube website. It was uploaded by Brave The Wilds, a channel where you can find all sorts of ways to be self-sufficient.
If you like building stuff then this YouTube channel is for you! They've got plenty of great tutorials and information. The videos are clear and well described, so if you're interested in making anything they've presented, you'll be on your way in no time. Now I'm not exactly sure where you would even find a 55 gallon drum to transform into a cooktop wood stove, but where there's a will there's a way! I'm sure you can just ask around at any of your local industrial hot spots. Naturally you could take the same concept and apply it to a similar drum. I don't think it needs to be that big, but either way the idea is great so make sure you check it out!
